The Accidents Module provides GTS drivers with the knowledge and responsibilities required when attending, recovering and transporting vehicles from accident scenes.
The module covers the complete accident towing process, beginning with the Authority to Tow (ATT) requirements. Drivers will learn how to establish the correct authority to tow, obtain and document consent, communicate applicable charges, respect the vehicle owner or driver’s rights, and accurately complete the required documentation and evidence.
The module then covers the practical requirements of accident towing and recovery, including assessing the accident scene and hazards, working within Police or relevant authority requirements, controlling risks, safely uprighting and recovering damaged vehicles, using recovery equipment within its limits, protecting people from winching and crush hazards, correctly loading and restraining vehicles, and safely transporting and unloading them.
Throughout the module, drivers are expected to understand not only what must be done, but why it matters. Correct decisions at an accident scene help protect the driver, emergency personnel, customers and the public, while also protecting vehicles and equipment and maintaining the safety, compliance, professionalism and reputation of Geraldton Towing Services.
