This lesson covers the responsibilities of GTS operators when towing, handling and storing vehicles that have been seized, impounded or identified for forensic examination by WA Police.
Drivers will learn how to protect property and potential evidence, prevent contamination or unauthorised access, follow specific requirements for forensic vehicles, use the required PPE, document any necessary contact with a vehicle and recognise when instructions must be obtained from WA Police.
The lesson reinforces that vehicles and property in GTS's care may form part of a Police investigation. Operators therefore have a responsibility to protect the integrity, security and condition of the vehicle and its contents at all times.
This lesson covers the operational requirements for GTS drivers completing WA Police Major Crash, forensic and impound towing work.
Drivers will learn the correct process from receiving a Police job through to arrival, site clearance, completion of the ATT&S documentation, photographing the vehicle, loading and restraint, recording trip information, transporting the vehicle and placing it in the correct storage location at the GTS yard.
The lesson also reinforces the additional responsibilities involved in Police work, including protecting forensic evidence, following Police instructions, accurately documenting the vehicle and its condition, maintaining professional conduct and ensuring Police vehicles and property are handled securely and respectfully.
